Anthropological Museum--Merida

This Sunday morning we visited the Anthropological museum in town. The quality of the pictures is poor because it's a dark place and they don't allow flash photography. I've included these heavily manipulated photos because I sort of like them. This is the skull of a young child which has been squashed with boards to enhance beauty. I hadn't realized that the Maya did this widening and flattening of the top of the skull, although I'd known about the forehead flattening.
