The Central Market in Merida

After visiting the church we toured the big market south of the downtown. It's in a huge, dark, crowded building. The smells are as interesting as the sights. Everything imaginable is sold here from jewelry to pigs heads.


I'm not sure what these are, but they are probably bases for red and green salsa.

It's dark in the market, too dark for photography, but this lady was very congenial about posing. She was trying out the little pottery whistle in her hand.
